Sandy Amoros blasted a homerun as the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Chicago-NL
Cubs in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 5 at Wrigely Field.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Pittsburgh
prevailed in the 11th inning.  Andy Carey laced a one-base hit.  Al Dark came
to the plate and stroked a base-hit.  Tom Gorman then threw a wild pitch
scoring the run.  Pittsburgh had 11 hits overall, while Chicago-NL had 8.

Hal Newhouser(3-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Gorman(1-2)
took the loss in relief.  Wth the win Pittsburgh now has a record of 56-40.
With the loss, Chicago-NL has a record of 7-3 lately, 62-42 overall.
