Right fielder Orator Shafer had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Jim Devlin was able
to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the
Louisville Grays defeated the struggling Cincinnati Reds by the score of 8 to
5 at Avenue Grounds.
Louisville scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 7th inning with the help
of 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Shafer who quieted the crowd when
he ripped a single which was good for two runs. Louisville banged out 15
hits on the afternoon.
The win was credited to Devlin(18-6) who went the whole way allowing 5 runs.
Candy Cummings(0-2) ended up with the loss. He allowed 15 hits and 1 walk in
