John Clapp had 2 base hits and Pud Galvin took a no-hitter into the 6th inning
as the sizzling Buffalo Bisons bested the ice-cold Cleveland Blues 8 to 1 at
Riverside Park.

Galvin(22-7) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Cleveland offense. He
didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The right-handed
Galvin had his no-hit bid broken up by Bill Phillips who singled with one out
in the 6th inning. Buffalo totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.

Bobby Mitchell(2-5) was the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.

In another of a string of victories, Buffalo extended their winning streak to
9 games. Jim McCormick was very irritated after the contest. 'Just our luck
to run into a team that's playing like a juggernaut right now. I have to
congratulate Clapp on his team's recent performance. A very impressive run.'
