Kid Nichols went the distance and Malachi Kittridge had 2 base hits and 3 RBI
at League Park where the Boston Beaneaters beat the Cincinnati Reds 7 to
6.

Boston had 5 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning when they had 5 base hits.
They would be enough to earn the win.  Cincinnati made it exciting in the
9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.  

Nichols(6-4) finished the game allowing 6 runs in the victory. Doc
Newton(6-10) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 14 hits and
8 walks in 9 innings.
