Cy Young went 12 solid innings as the Boston Americans topped the Philadelphia
Athletics in 12 innings by a score of 2 to 1 at Huntington Ave Grnds.

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Finally, Boston prevailed in
the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Young ripped a single.  Rube
Waddell then threw a wild pitch.  Kip Selbach then reached on an error.
Selbach was safe at second on a stolen base.  Freddy Parent came up to bat
and drew a walk to load the bases.  Jesse Burkett joined his teammates in the
uprising and drew a walk making Boston the winners and sending the 8,149 fans
home happy.  Boston had a total of 7 hits for the game.  

Young(7-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Waddell(8-9)
was tagged with the loss.  'He had his 'A' game today,' Boston's manager said
of Young.  'Very impressive performance.'
