George Moriarty had 2 base hits and Al Orth was able to finish what he started
and was credited with a complete game at Hilltop Park as the New York
Highlanders came back dramatically to top the Philadelphia Athletics by the
score of 5 to 4.

New York came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs utilizing 4 base hits.  Jimmy Williams led off the inning for New York
when he singled.  Moriarty stepped up next and he stroked a single.  Frank
Laporte was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Kid Elberfeld came up
and he stroked a base-hit scoring a single run.  Orth stepped into the box
and banged out a one-base hit bringing in another run.  After another out,
Willie Keeler stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error making New
York the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  New York and
Philadelphia each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.  

The victory was credited to Orth(13-4) who went the distance, allowing 4 runs.
Chief Bender(5-2) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk
in 8 and 1/3 innings.  

'We just wouldn't give up,' Moriarty said. 'Much of the credit goes to our
fans - they were with us the whole way.'
