Ed Walsh came through with a solid 9 innings as the Chicago White Sox defeated
the St. Louis Browns 1 to 0 at South Side Park.
Walsh(11-7) was simply too much for the St. Louis batters. He allowed just 5
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. St. Louis tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.
Harry Howell(8-7) took the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up only 2 hits
and 1 walk. 'You have to give St. Louis credit, they fought us tough to the
end' Fielder Jones said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we
pulled out the victory.'
