Louis Drucke(7-0) thrilled the fans at Polo Grounds as he crafted a no-hit masterpiece against the Brooklyn Superbas. The New York Giants won by a final score of 2 to 0. Drucke had overwhelming stuff this afternoon. He simply never gave the Brooklyn batters a decent pitch to drive. He allowed Brooklyn just one walk. The New York players and coaches started to leave Drucke alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. After the 1st inning, neither team was able to score. Nap Rucker(7-11) absorbed the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 5 innings and not allowing an earned run. 'Not in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen!' Drucke said as he stood at home plate to salute the fans. 'Once I got into the later innings, I decided to challenge every hitter, and that turned out to be the right decision!'
