Left fielder Germany Schaefer had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at Palace of the Fans
as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 9 to
6.

Cincinnati drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
with 3 runs on 3 hits.  Nap Lajoie kicked off the action when he was hit by a
pitch.  After an out was recorded, Schaefer stepped up to the plate and he
ripped a single driving in a run.  Schaefer was safe on a stolen base.  Hal
Chase came up and he slapped a base-hit scoring another run.  Chase took
second on the throw.  Fred Snodgrass came to the plate and tripled scoring
the final run of the inning.  Detroit tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.  

The win went to Howie Camnitz(4-4) who allowed 6 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Slim Sallee earned the save, his 1st.  Earl Hamilton(4-6) was the loser.  He
allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 15 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.
