George Kaiserling allowed Bill Phillips to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game as the Indianapolis Hoosiers beat the Chicago ballclub in 10
innings by a score of 5 to 4.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Indianapolis came out
the victor in the 10th inning. Bill Rariden drew a walk. Roush was safe at
second on a stolen base. Dave Black then let one slip out of his hand for a
wild pitch. Kaiserling came up and he laced a one-base hit giving
Indianapolis the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
Indianapolis had just 5 hits for the afternoon.
Kaiserling(7-3), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory.
Black(3-2) absorbed the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter and
surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk.
