Shortstop Art Butler had 2 base hits and Slim Sallee went the distance as the
St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 1.

St. Louis had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they
came up with 3 base hits. Dots Miller got things going when he laced a

run. Butler then stroked a single scoring the final run of the inning. That
scoring would be all that was needed. St. Louis totaled 9 hits on the
afternoon.

Sallee(13-2), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Earl
Yingling(4-10) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 7
