Preacher Roe completed the game without help from the bullpen and shortstop
Marty Marion had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 6 to 4 at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first as they scored 4 runs on 4 base hits.  The key offensive moment was
provided by Marion who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he banged
out a single bringing in two baserunners.  Cincinnati had 10 hits for the
afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Roe(9-8) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Ewell
Blackwell(12-5) was charged with the loss.  He had trouble throwing strikes
and issued 7 walks in 4 innings.
