The Cleveland Indians defeated the New York-AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 2 at
Yankee Stadium.

Cleveland started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first scoring 3 runs using 2 hits. After two outs Joe Cunningham got
things going when he slapped a base-hit. Ted Williams was next and he drew a
walk. Del Ennis then belted a three-run homer. That early run support was
enough for Steve Gromek(6-7) and Cleveland. Gromek got help from Marv
Grissom who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 4th save.

Carl Erskine(4-9) suffered the loss. He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings giving up 5
hits and 1 walk.
