The Pittsburgh Pirates tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning and and the Chicago-NL
Cubs locked up in an exciting one-run game at Wrigely Field.  The final score
was the Pittsburgh Pirates 6, the Chicago-NL Cubs 5.

In the top of the 6th inning Pittsburgh scored 4 runs when they had 4 base
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Sandy Amoros who silenced the
crowd when he rifled a three-run blast.  Chicago-NL threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.  

Early Wynn(16-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 5
runs. Wynn got help from Hal Newhouser who was credited with his 10th save.
Sal Maglie(10-2) ended up with the loss.
