Catcher Barney Gilligan had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Dupee Shaw pitched a
complete game as the Washington Nationals defeated the Kansas City Cowboys by
the score of 11 to 4 at Association Park.

Washington jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs on
2 base hits.  Paul Hines got things going when he lined a single.  Cliff
Carroll stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Phil Baker then
reached on an error plating a run.  Stump Weidman then had one get away for a
wild pitch scoring another run.  Ed Crane stepped into the box and slapped a
single.  Weidman then threw a pitch that got away from the catcher.  Jimmy
Knowles stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error.  Weidman then
uncorked a wild pitch scoring the final run of the inning.  Washington banged
out 11 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Shaw(7-13) who allowed 4 runs for the game.
Weidman(7-11) absorbed the loss.  He allowed Washington 11 runs in 9 innings
of work.
