Jack Boyle had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the smoking-hot Chicago Pirates
defeated the New York Giants by a score of 13 to 11 at South Side
Park.

Chicago wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 4
runs on 4 base hits.  New York threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.  

The winning pitcher was Charlie Bartson(1-7) who allowed 11 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Frank Dwyer earned his 1st save.  Ed Crane(6-13) was tagged with the
loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.

'This was a tough loss,' said Buck Ewing, 'the kind that sticks with you for
awhile.'
