WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Hans Lobert robbed Bobby Byrne of a base hit.

Bobby Byrne had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Robison Field where the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds in 12 innings 5 to 4.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. St. Louis was
victorious in the 12th inning. Red Murray lined a one-base hit. Joe
Delahanty followed, but he was set down on strikes. Jake Weimer then
uncorked a pitch that was ruled a passed ball. Ed Konetchy was a strikeout
victim, unable to help out. Bill Ludwig came to the plate and was walked
intentionally. Byrne continued the rally and doubled making St. Louis the
winners and sending the 4,017 fans home happy. Cincinnati had 18 hits in the
game while St. Louis had 11, but St. Louis had the more timely hits.

Stoney McGlynn(2-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Weimer(3-7) was the losing pitcher. St. Louis now has a record of 28-41.
Cincinnati can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a
miserable 1-9 record over the last couple weeks.
