Chief Bender had a strong outing as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the
New York Highlanders 10 to 3 at Hilltop Park.

The game started off with Philadelphia taking the lead in the first as they
scored 3 runs on 1 base hits.  Philadelphia had a total of 9 hits for the
game.  

The win was credited to Bender(10-4) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Slow Joe Doyle(1-4) was hit with the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 10 runs in 9 innings.
