At Hilltop Park the Philadelphia Athletics outscored the New York Highlanders
7 to 4.

Philadelphia drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 4 runners on 5 hits.  Philadelphia had 15 hits for the afternoon
while New York had 9.  

Eddie Plank(8-7) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Rube
Vickers recorded the save, his 1st.  The losing pitcher was Joe Lake(4-8).
He was hit hard and gave up 14 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  

Philadelphia continued their winnings ways improving their record to a league
leading 43-23.  They are 8-2 in their last ten games.  With the loss New York
now has a record of 18-47, worst in the league.
