The Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Griffith Stadium.  The final score was the Cincinnati Reds 3,
the Washington Nationals 2 in 10 innings.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Cincinnati came out on top in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Del Wilber laced a one-base hit.  One out
later, Ned Garver came to the plate and doubled scoring the run.  The
Washington offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the 10th.

Garver(10-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 9 innings and allowing 2
runs. Garver got relief help from Joe Ostrowski who gained credit for his 4th
save.  Bill Werle(1-2) was the loser in relief.
