Virgil Trucks completed the game without help from the bullpen at Ebbets Field
where the New York-AL Yankees beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in 10 innings by the
score of 5 to 4.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. New York-AL came out on
top in the 10th inning. Richie Ashburn drew a walk. Two outs later Dee
Fondy came up and he ripped a base-knock scoring the run. Fondy took second
on the throw. New York-AL and Brooklyn each finished the night with 8 hits.
Trucks(7-10) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Jim Hughes(0-3)
