Gus Weyhing pitched a complete game as the amazing Philadelphia Athletics
man-handled the Cincinnati Red Stockings - the final score was 18 to
6.

Blondie Purcell had a good day at the plate.  He laced a single bringing home
two baserunners in the 1st inning, singled bringing in two baserunners in the
7th inning and lined a one-base hit in the 9th inning.  Philadelphia bats
were very productive in the 1st inning with 10 runs.  Philadelphia had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.  

The win was credited to Weyhing(17-7) who went the whole way allowing 6 runs.
Tony Mullane(6-5) absorbed the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 13 hits and 8
walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
