WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Tommy Leach robbed Joe Yeager of a base hit.

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
streaking Detroit Tigers rallied to top Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the
score of 6 to 5.

Detroit scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits.
After an out was recorded, George Davis kicked off the action when he laced a
base-knock. George Stone next to the plate and he doubled which scored a
run. Frank Chance then delivered a one-base hit giving Detroit the win much
to the delight of the home town crowd. Detroit managed 11 hits in their
victory.

Red Ames(7-7) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Roy Patterson(0-5)
suffered the loss in relief. 'What a win!', Ames said. 'These are the kind
of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
