Catcher Jack Lapp had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia
Athletics beat the Boston Red Sox 7 to 2.

Philadelphia came up with 3 runs in the 3rd inning when they came up with 3
base hits.  That was all the runs Chief Bender(5-4) needed.  Neither team
managed to score after the 4th inning.  

Bender got help from Stan Coveleski who earned his 5th save.  Eddie
Cicotte(4-3) suffered the loss.  He was knocked around by Philadelphia,
allowing 12 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
