Eddie Joost slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Shibe Park as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics staged a comeback win over the Chicago-NL Cubs by
the count of 8 to 7.

Philadelphia-AL erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th
inning with 3 runs utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Joost
started the attack as he drew a walk.  Wally Westlake stepped up next and he
popped a two-run clout over the fence.  Roy Campanella then drew a walk.
Andy Pafko followed and he reached on an error.  After another out, Grady
Hatton came up and he ripped a one-base hit giving Philadelphia-AL the win as
5,279 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  This was the kind of game that many
fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.  

The win went to Dutch Leonard(1-1) who allowed 2 runs in 1 inning. Howie
Judson(3-8) was charged with the loss in relief.  He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
