Tim Keefe didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning and Jim O'Rourke had 3 base
hits and 2 RBI at Recreation Park as the New York Giants beat the Pittsburgh
Alleghenys 7 to 1.

Keefe(14-7) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Pittsburgh offense.  He
gave up just 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  The right-handed Keefe lost
his chance for a no-hitter when Fred Carroll doubled with one out in the 8th
inning.  New York totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  

Harry Staley(0-2) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 11 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings.
