The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Chicago Cubs in 10 innings 4 to 3 at Forbes
Field in a hard fought contest.

The score was tied at 3 after nine. Pittsburgh was victorious in the 10th
inning.  Honus Wagner delivered a single.  Jim Viox followed next and he
smacked a single.  Doc Johnston then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  George
Gibson stepped in and he singled resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Pittsburgh and the 1,186 home town fans in attendance.  Pittsburgh out-hit
Chicago for the game, 12 hits to 7.  

Carmen Hill(1-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Bert
Humphries(2-7) was given the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings
giving up 3 hits and no walks.
