The Cleveland Indians were certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their 5 game losing streak was finally halted and edged the Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Stadium by the score of 2 to 1. The deciding run was scored by Cleveland in the bottom of the 8th. Eddie Stanky slapped a one-base hit. Russ Meyer came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another out, Elmer Valo then delivered a single scoring the run. Overall Cleveland out-hit Boston 7 to 4. Meyer(5-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. Andy Hansen(2-4) was the loser in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 1 inning.
