Ralph Kiner had 4 hits and scored 3 times and Bill Wight went the distance as
the New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 8 to 4
at Forbes Field.

Pittsburgh was unable to climb back into it after New York went ahead for good
in the top of the 6th inning with 3 runs utilizing 5 base hits.  Kiner led
off and keyed the rally when he doubled.  After an out was recorded, Don
Kolloway stepped up to the plate and he delivered a one-base hit scoring a
run.  Stan Rojek then stroked a base-hit.  Wight stepped in and he banged out
a single driving in another run.  One out later, Ted Kluszewski came to bat
and doubled scoring the final run of the inning.  New York banged out 14 hits
on the afternoon.  

Wight(5-2) was the winner allowing 4 runs for the game. Early Wynn(3-2) was
the losing pitcher in relief.  He was not very effective, surrendering 4 runs
in 2 innings.  

With this win, New York has a 45-35 record.  They have been 5-5 lately.
Pittsburgh has a record of 33-47 after the loss.
