Hank Sauer had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the smoking-hot Pittsburgh Pirates
topped the Cleveland Indians in 11 innings by a score of 9 to 6 at Municipal
Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Pittsburgh came out on
top in the 11th inning. Mickey Vernon opened up the inning nicely when he
stroked a one-base hit. Dale Mitchell followed and he ripped a base-knock.
After an out was recorded, Yogi Berra was walked intentionally to load the
bases. Sauer followed next and he doubled plating three runs. Pittsburgh
ended up with 15 hits for the game while Cleveland had 7.

Dizzy Trout(3-1) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Trout got
relief help from Vern Law who gained credit for his 5th save. Sam
Zoldak(5-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Pittsburgh now has a record of 45-55. Cleveland has a record of 57-35 after
the loss.
