Left fielder Bob Cerv smashed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Johnny Antonelli
allowed Jim Murphy to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Wrigely
Field where the Kansas City Athletics beat the Chicago-NL Cubs by the score
of 12 to 6.

Cerv enjoyed a great day at the plate. He cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 1st inning, belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and
tripled in the 8th inning. Kansas City dominated offensively as they scored
in 6 different innings.

The win was credited to Antonelli(4-8) who went the whole way allowing 6 runs.
Bill Wight(4-4) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around by Kansas
City, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Cerv said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
