Top 4th: Frank Mountain robbed Cub Stricker of a base hit. Fred Mann slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Frank Mountain tossed a fine 3 hitter as the Columbus Buckeyes destroyed the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of 16 to 1 at Recreation Park. Mann enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lined a single bringing in a run in the 3rd inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 8th inning. Columbus lit up the scoreboard in the 8th inning which saw them score 8 runs on 7 hits. The Columbus offense was as consistent as it was powerful. They scored in every inning, making a joke of the Philadelphia pitching. Mountain(12-8) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Bobby Mathews(17-6) was given the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 14 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. 'All of my pitches were working today,' Mountain said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
