Harry Staley pitched a complete game and Jake Beckley hit 2 doubles and had 2
RBI at Forepaugh Park where the Pittsburg Burghers beat the Philadelphia
Athletics by the score of 8 to 6.

Pittsburg had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3
base hits.  After an out was recorded, Joe Visner kicked off the action when
he drew a walk.  Visner swiped second base.  Pittsburg continued their
aggressive style with another stolen base.  Tom Quinn was up next and he
ripped a one-base hit scoring a run.  Beckley stepped into the box and ripped
a base-hit.  Jocko Fields was the next batter, but he struck out.  Bill
Kuehne next to the plate and he tripled as two more runners crossed the
plate.  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

The win was credited to Staley(12-9) who went the whole way allowing 6 runs.
Phil Knell(5-6) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 10 hits and 9 walks in 9
innings.
