WEB GEMS- Bot 8th: Dick Hoblitzell robbed Ivy Olson of a base hit.

Neal Ball hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated
the Washington Nationals 14 to 5 at American League Park.

Washington fell behind quickly as the Chicago-NL offense came through in the
first inning when they came up with 2 runs on 2 hits. The key offensive
moment was provided by Ping Bodie who disappointed the partisan crowd when he
tripled bringing in two baserunners. For the game Chicago-NL out-hit
Washington 15 to 8.

Cy Morgan(9-6) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Hooks
Wiltse(4-7) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 6 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings
of work.

Chicago-NL won for the 6th straight time. 'It seems we can't lose these days',
Lee Palmer volunteered after the game. Then after a moment to reflect he
lamented, 'Oh great! Now I've gone and jinxed us!'
