Andy Seminick lofted one into the 'cheap seats' as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4 to 3 at Sportsman's Park.
Curt Simmons(3-12) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He
allowed 6 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings. Philadelphia had 10 hits overall,
while St. Louis had 7.
Simmons got help from Steve Gromek who earned his 8th save. Larry
Jansen(8-14) ended up with the loss. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance
to win.' said Simmons, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the
game, and that's all that matters.'
