The Cincinnati Reds tallied 5 runs in the 6th inning and had very little
trouble at Griffith Stadium downing the Washington Nationals.  The score was
9 to 2.

Larry Doby had a big day at the plate.  He launched a three-run homer in the
1st inning and singled bringing in two baserunners in the 6th inning.
Cincinnati had 11 hits overall, while Washington had 8.  

Jim Hearn(6-7) allowed 2 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Paul
Minner recorded the save, his 5th.  Ralph Branca(4-11) ended up with the
loss.  He couldn't find the strike zone and allowed 9 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.
