The Pittsburgh Pirates pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Philadelphia-NL
Phillies lineup who plated 14 runs while Dizzy Trout(15-3)with the aid of the
bullpen allowed Pittsburgh 5 runs.
Nellie Fox had a good day at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit bringing in
two baserunners in the 2nd inning, banged out a single in the 8th inning and
clubbed a solo home run in the 9th inning. Pittsburgh was out-hit by
Philadelphia-NL, 14 hits to 11.
Early Wynn(9-9) was charged with the loss. He gave up 8 runs in 6 innings of
