Billy Hunter had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Johnny Lindell had a strong outing
as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Washington Nationals 9 to 1 at Griffith
Stadium.

Cincinnati drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring a single run using 3 hits.  Washington was out-hit by Cincinnati, 15
hits to 5.  

Jim Hearn(8-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Hearn got help from Lindell who earned his 1st save.  The
losing pitcher was Johnny Podres(0-1).  He was knocked around by Cincinnati,
allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
