Harry Davis had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Nick Altrock went 9 solid innings as
the Boston-NL Beaneaters topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 8 to 0 at
Palace of the Fans.

Boston-NL jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up
with 2 runs on 2 hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.
Boston-NL rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.  

For Altrock(9-9) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Christy Mathewson(3-14) was
the losing pitcher.  He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 6 walks in 8
innings.  

'When Altrock is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,'
Doug Hatch said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
