George Stovall had 2 base hits at Huntington Ave Grnds where the Cleveland
Naps beat the Boston Red Sox 2 to 1.

Cleveland came up with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. That was all the
offense they were to need. Boston tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.

Cy Young(6-3) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Willie
Mitchell recorded his 5th save. The losing pitcher was Charlie Smith(6-3).
He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and not allowing an earned run.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Boston's manager lamented after
the game. 'This was one of them.'
