Stuffy McInnis had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Weldon Wyckoff completed the game
without help from the bullpen at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia Athletics won
a thriller over the Detroit Tigers in, 9 to 8.
The deciding run was scored by Philadelphia in the 9th. Jack Lapp doubled.
Jean Dubuc then let one get away for a wild pitch. After an out was
recorded, Eddie Murphy then reached on an error making Philadelphia the
winners and sending the 5,035 fans home happy. It was roller coaster of a
game as the lead change hands 6 times.
The win went to Wyckoff(4-10) who allowed 8 runs in the game. Dubuc(10-7) was
the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 4
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
The Philadelphia ballclub's record now stands at 41-34. With the loss, the
Detroit ballclub's record is 39-40.
