Right fielder Eddie Murphy had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the Philadelphia Athletics
topped the St. Louis Browns by a score of 12 to 4 at Sportsman's
Park.

Murphy provided the offensive punch.  He delivered a base-hit which plated a
run in the 2nd inning, lined a single in the 7th inning, tripled with all
three baserunners touching home in the 8th inning and slapped a one-base hit
bringing home two baserunners in the 9th inning.  Philadelphia had 11 hits
for the afternoon.  

Joe Bush(2-9) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Bill
James(7-6) was the losing pitcher.  Philadelphia scored big getting 8 runs
off him in 7 and 2/3 innings.
