Hugh Duffy had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and John Tener was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the Chicago White Stockings
defeated the Washington Nationals by the score of 8 to 6 at Swampoodle
Grounds.

The game was decided in the 8th inning.  Jimmy Ryan ripped a base-hit, and an
error was also committed.  After another out, Duffy came to bat and hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Chicago took care of Washington with no
trouble in the bottom of the 9th.  

Tener(6-5) lasted until the end allowing 6 runs for the win. Alex Ferson(10-6)
was hit with the loss.  He pitched 9 innings allowing 11 hits and 5 walks.
