Monte Ward blasted 2 homeruns and scored 3 times and John Sowders was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Eastern Park
as the Brooklyn Ward's Wonders beat the Buffalo Bisons by the count of 8 to
4.

Ward made sure the Brooklyn fans enjoyed themselves.  He smashed a solo-shot
out of the park in the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run in the 3rd inning,
laced a one-base hit in the 5th inning and slapped a single in the 7th
inning.  This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed
hands 5 times.  

Sowders(11-3) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. The losing
pitcher was George Haddock(10-12).  He allowed 3 homeruns in 8 innings of
work.
