Second baseman Sammy Strang had 3 base hits as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics
topped the Washington Nationals in 10 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at
American League Park.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Philadelphia-AL came out
on top in the 10th inning.  Sam Brown laced a base-hit.  Andy Coakley stepped
up to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  One out later, Matty
McIntyre then drew a walk.  Strang followed and he ripped a single scoring
the run.  Strang took second on the throw.  Both teams ended up with 13 hits
on the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Coakley(4-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Jack Coombs(4-5) was hit with the loss in relief.
