The key at-bat was by Hank Bauer who helped quiet the crowd when he banged out a single bringing in two baserunners. Philadelphia-NL banged out 8 hits on the night. Steve Ridzik(8-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Ridzik got help from Ken Heintzelman who earned his 5th save. The losing pitcher was Satchel Paige(6-4) in relief. 'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Paige said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
