Cyclone Miller hurled a 3 hitter and Jumbo Schoeneck had 4 hits and 4 RBI as
the Chicago-Pittsbg Stogies ballclub embarrassed the Boston Reds by the count
of 12 to 1.

Schoeneck provided much of the offense. He banged out a single in the 1st
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning, singled
bringing in two baserunners in the 4th inning and stroked a one-base hit
plating a run in the 9th inning. Chicago-Pittsbg managed 13 hits in their
victory.

Miller(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Fred
Tenney(3-2) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings.

When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Tenney was lavish in his
praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long
night. Miller brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able
to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the
entire game!
