Harry Decker lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and Kirtley Baker had a
complete game as the Pittsburg Alleghenys topped the New York Giants by a
score of 4 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

Pittsburg tallied 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning. Decker opened up the
scoring as he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. After an out was recorded,
Fred Roat came up and he reached on an error. Tun Berger then ripped a
base-knock, and an error was also committed. Guy Hecker was up next and he
reached on an error bringing in another run. Bill Wilson stepped into the
box and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. Although they
lost, New York did out-hit Pittsburg 10 to 4.

The victory went to Baker(5-11) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Amos
Rusie(20-12) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered only 4 runs and 4 hits
in 9 innings.
