Bob Ewing tossed a shutout and Tommy Corcoran slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI
as the Boston Beaneaters were badly beaten by the Cincinnati Reds, 16 to
0.

Corcoran was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 2nd inning,
banged out a single in the 3rd inning and clubbed a three-run home run in the
7th inning. Cincinnati bats were very productive in the 7th inning which saw
them plate 8 runs on 9 hits. Cincinnati totaled 18 hits on the afternoon.

For Ewing(8-7) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Dick Harley(0-5) absorbed the
loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 9 innings of work.
