First baseman Fred Stem had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated
the Washington Nationals in 12 innings 5 to 4 at West Side Park.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Chicago-NL ended up
winning it in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Bob Ganley
tripled.  Donie Bush was next and he would hit into a fielders choice making
Chicago-NL the winners and sending the 4,110 fans home happy.  Chicago-NL
managed 11 hits in their victory.  

Heinie Berger(3-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. The losing
pitcher was Jack Coombs(2-5) in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and no walks
in 2 and 1/3 innings.
